At St. Mary’s, technology is thoughtfully integrated across the elementary curriculum to support and enrich student learning. Beginning in Pre-K, students engage with iPads in developmentally appropriate ways that build foundational skills through exploration and creativity. From 1st through 8th grade, all students participate in our 1:1 iPad program, ensuring consistent access to digital tools that enhance learning, foster collaboration, and encourage independence.
Students connect naturally with technology in the classroom, and our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of today’s learners through hands-on, age-appropriate experiences. Throughout the elementary years, students engage in rich learning opportunities that include direct instruction in cyber safety, online etiquette, coding, and responsible digital citizenship. Kindergarten students begin developing creative problem-solving skills and pre-engineering concepts by working together to build and explore.
By grades 6–8, students are introduced to foundational programming through platforms such as Swift Playgrounds and Hour of Code. They also apply the engineering design process to tackle real-world problems, use Tinkercad and our Dremel 3D printers for design and fabrication, and develop proficiency with search tools and digital applications for research, reporting, and storage.
All classrooms are equipped with ViewSonic ViewBoards, providing dynamic, interactive instruction that enhances engagement and understanding. Through this intentional use of technology, our students grow into capable, confident digital learners—well-prepared for future academic and real-world challenges.
